The low-cost airline, Go-Air, launched its flights for Delhi, Mumbai and Goa from the city on Sunday. The duration of the flight from Chandigarh to Delhi (priced at Rs 2,266) is just 45 minutes while it takes two hours to reach Mumbai (priced at Rs 3,668). The flight to Goa will take 3.5 hours and charge Rs 4,900. The flights to Delhi and Mumbai are direct while the one to Goa is a transition flight from Goa-Delhi-Chandigarh-Mumbai.

All flights will operate five days a week, excluding Tuesdays and Saturdays.

"We are optimistic of a good response for our services. On the first day today, we saw around 50 per cent occupancy on the flights -- this is an encouraging indication," said the airport manager of Go Air, who was in Chandigarh for the launch.

Meanwhile, Kingfisher Airlines is scheduled to start daily flights to Jammu and Srinagar from April 18. The flight to Jammu will depart from Chandigarh at 9.30 am and connect to Srinagar at 11 am. From Srinagar, the flight will take off at 12.30 pm, depart from Jammu at 2 pm, and the Chandigarh-Delhi flight will take off at 3.30 pm. The fare from Chandigarh to Jammu has been fixed at Rs 3,171 and Rs 6,691 for the Chandigarh-Srinagar flight. Tickets for the Chandigarh-Delhi and Chandigarh- Mumbai flights are priced at Rs 3,180 and Rs 6,071 respectively.
