Now, hire Hindu priests, buy puja ‘samagri’ with a click

The days of running around to find a priest and buy 'samagri' are over. The next time you plan a puja at home, switch on your laptop or desktop, click on a browser and type hindupujan.com. Through the first-of-its-kind website launched around a month ago, you can avail services of priests and buy puja material for a "standard" advance payment 24X7.

The site launched to coincide with the festive season is already seeing a flood of orders. It allows the user to choose from a list of well-qualified priests who are " graduates from Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Varanasi, and other religious schools".

Advance payment ensures priests do not make 'dakshina' demands.

"The idea is to help save valuable time spent looking for priests, who are difficult to find especially in the festival season," said IT engineer Arvind Pathak (27), the brain behind the venture.

"I organised a puja at home three months ago, but the pandit was late by three hours. He also did not perform the puja well but still took Rs 6,000," he said.

Pathak has tied up with a few priests and provides their numbers on the website for quick service. He promises hassle-free pujas with authentic 'samagri'' at "affordable" prices.

Pathak wants Mumbaikars to stay in touch with their roots and at the same time organise pujas without spending too much.

The site offers free consultation. All you have to do is fill personal details such as name, email id and phone number in windows on the right of the interface and submit.

The site, "a solution to all your spiritual needs", also keeps you updated on upcoming religious events.
