Apart from making records in sale, industrialists of North India are now seriously concerned about saving girl child and also increasing literacy rate among them. This is the reason, a number of industrialists are following novel ways to promote unique Nanhi Chaan project, which was started by Fortis chairman, Jaspal Singh, and these days is also promoted by the state government. A number of industrialists in Punjab and Haryana have followed it as a part of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) programme, because CII is asking its members to make it popular.
To talk about this project, Anmol Jain, MD of Lumex Industries, having more than 20 auto components units all across the country, said, “We have earmarked an area in all of our units where we plant saplings at the birth of a girl child in our workers’ families.”
Jain said, “Not only this, we will be even giving “special incentive” to every worker who has a girl child in his family. Later, we have a plan to sponsor the education of girl children as well.”
JR Singhal, MD of Eastman Industries, however has seriously started working on this project after the CII asked him to do something. Singhal said, “I have entered into a tie up with State Bank of India. Every year girls in 6-14 age group will be given a grant of Rs 5,000 by the SBI and a matching grant will be given by my company as well to finance their education. This will continue till their high school education. ”
