Now,Jaya writes to PM on health Bill

The Bill,she said,“usurps the powers of the states in the critical area of health human resources by creating new structures which hit at the very root of federalism”.

Expressing her “vehement objection” to the National Commission for Human Resources for Health Bill 2011,which has been referred to the Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare by the Rajya Sabha,Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa said on Thursday the Bill undermined the role of the states in a matter as important as medical education.

In a letter to PM Manmohan Singh,Jaya said the Bill proposed a system where the leadership and decision-making process regarding medical education were entrusted with a committee of 25,all nominees of the Centre.

The Bill,she said,“usurps the powers of the states in the critical area of health human resources by creating new structures which hit at the very root of federalism”.
