  • The Kapurthala Police have opened specials counters for hassle-free registration of FIRs.

Counters have been opened at CPRC centres of Kapurthala and Phagwara and at the offices of Phagwara DSP and Kapurthala SSP.

Kapurthala SSP Rakesh Agrawal said residents can come to a counter and just fill in a form to get the FIR lodged. Copy of the FIR would be made available within 24 hours. FIRs can also be sent through email to sspkapurthala@yahoo.com.

Proof of identity of the complainant would be taken at the time of registration of FIR to avoid impersonation. He said to prevent this scheme from being misused, SHOs have been issued instructions, including not to arrest a person against whom FIR has been registered without collecting evidences.

Besides, written permission of SSP would be necessary for an arrest. And, in case the FIR is found to be fake, proceeding under Section 182 of the IPC would be initiated against the complainant.
