  • With almost a year since the Mumbai terror attacks on November 26, Delhi-based Raj Comics has launched a comic book titled ‘26/11’ this month. Two superheroes from the Raj Comics stable — Nagraj and Doga — come to the rescue of the victims of 26/11 and also go after five fictional militants.

Sanjay Gupta, studio head at Raj Comics, says: “Though Nagraj and Doga have been around for 25 years, this is the first time we have teamed them for this edition. In our comic book, all militants are caught and killed.”

The comic shows how the militants made their way to the city via the sea, docking their boat and then heading to their marked locations: Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Leopold Café and Hotel Trident. The path the militants took to hold Mumbai hostage is mirrored in the comic. The Raj Comic superheroes also track the five other ‘terrorists’ who still lurk in the city after the attack.

The story goes: Raj, Nagraj’s alter ego and the owner of a TV channel, is on a business trip when he grows suspicious of a girl sitting next to him. It turns out she is a militant; from her, he also finds out that an attack has been planned on Mumbai on November 26. Nagraj comes to the rescue: his superpowers include harbouring millions of microscopic snakes inside his body that can be released at his command for attack, spitting venom and shape-shifting abilities.

Doga, who resides in Mumbai, is all about high kicks and fast moves. Doga has no special powers but is skilled in martial arts and is a one-man army. He can also communicate with dogs. His alter ego is Suraj, a gym owner who wears a dog mask to hide his identity. Doga’s girlfriend is attacked on 26/11, which is how he arrives at the scene.

    ... contd.
