Now,pay STD charges for calling govt officials in city

After the police department, which has switched to BSNL numbers, because of which all calls made to the police by locals of the city will be STD,other departments of Haryana will follow suit too. With this move, even calling the local SP or DSP would mean paying STD charges.

“We received orders from the Haryana government and decided to switch to BSNL numbers. While the orders are to be implemented in all other departments,we are the first ones to do it,” said SP Maneesh Chaudhary.

Another police officer, requesting anonymity, said,“There are orders from the Haryana Chief Secretary. The entire aim behind switching to BSNL (Haryana circle) is that calls made by one official to another within the Haryana government will be free of cost.”

But residents are unhappy with the move. Talking to Newsline,Sumit Kalra,a resident of Sector 12,said,“This seems to be an impractical scheme.”
