To eradicate anomalies and ensure transparency, the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) will now centrally monitor the functioning of the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV) across the state through web cameras.
The pilot project, which was first introduced in Mahoba district around a month ago, will now be implemented in all the 454 KGBVs in the state. During the project, the students were able to interact directly with the District Magistrate and SSA officials in Lucknow through video conferencing.
This procedure will help authorities manage the functioning of a particular KGBV online. It is a quick medium though which information and instructions can be conveyed easily. One web-camera would be installed in each institute. The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited will be the service provider across the state.
“By installing web-cameras in KGBVs, we have a direct interface, which helps us to interact with the students and understand the problems they face. We can easily monitor the functioning of these schools from our offices,” said Veena, State Project Director, SSA.
“It is a novel introduction to help improve the quality of education. The students here can directly intimate the higher authorities about the problems related to their food, studies and other issues,” said GS Rajput, Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA), Mahoba.
“This medium will help us get in touch with the students in any district. Otherwise, the management could have hidden their problems,” said a senior SSA official.
Also on agenda are plans to start a virtual classroom. “Once this is implemented in all schools, we will be working towards introducing virtual classrooms through this medium as well,” said a senior SSA official.
