The Western Railway (WR) has opened a new improved deluxe toilet complex at the Bandra Terminus.
The two-storey complex has been constructed at a cost of about Rs 32 lakh. It will be operated by M/s Sulabh International for 15 years. It is well ventilated and equipped with a central geyser, hand driers and mirrors. A shoe shining machine is available at the entrance. The service will cost Rs 1. The charges for using the toilet and bathroom are Rs 2 and Rs 5 respectively.
“We hope that the public likes these toilets as they will be properly maintained. When the contractors are benefited the agencies will also come forward for the BOT scheme,” said a senior official on condition of anonymity.
C Nitin Kumar Devid, public relations officer, WR, said, “In this complex passengers will also be able to buy newspapers and magazines.”
“Now construction work of deluxe toilets has been started outside the passenger reservation system at the Andheri station (W). For Borivali the initial process on this has been started,” added Devid.
