  • The nation’s ace counter-terror agency, National Security Guard (NSG), will send a legal advisor along with an NSG commando who has been summoned by the special sessions court conducting the 26/11 trial to depose before it on Tuesday, similar to a practice followed in the US by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that has a legal advisor to assist and accompany any agent who has to depose in a court of law if the trial is in a foreign country.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria said, “NSG commando Lt Col R K Sharma will be arriving on Monday. He was told to be present before the court on Tuesday. Their legal advisors will accompany Sharma to court,” Maria said.

The court had issued a summons to Sharma who had led the operation against terrorists at Hotel Trident-Oberoi. Assistant security officer Rajesh Kadam of the hotel had mentioned Sharma’s name during his deposition. Accordingly, the court, using its powers under Section 311 of the CrPC had issued a summons to Sharma to come to the court and depose regarding details of the operation.
