Mill land: Will surrender part of Worli,Dadar plots, get total ownership of rest and put it up for auction

The National Textile Corporation will part with a portion of its prime plots at Madhusudan Mills in Worli and Kohinoor Mills 1 & 2 in Dadar. This will help convert both properties from leasehold to freehold and clear the decks for putting them on the block.

Both mills were private originally, then declared sick units and nationalised under the Sick Textile Undertaking (Nationalisation) Act,1974. “The two were among the many where private owners had staked their claim to the property. Recently the NTC decided to hand over a portion to the two owners in return for complete ownership (of the rest) to the NTC,” said an official.
