OBC quota: Define backwardness first, Salve tells Centre

  • Salve lamented that while the Government might spend about Rs 18,000 crore for upgradation of infrastructiural facilities (as suggested by the Moily Committee), “it is not willing to spend even a small amount on providing basic infrastructure facilities for the Commission (Backward Classes Commission) set up following apex court orders”.

    “Because then results would come which might be very disturbing (for the Government),” he said indicating that there had been no attempt to identify who were really backward among the citizens.
