NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Thursday dismissed as “mindless” and a “political game” the reported offer of Chief Minister’s post to it by Shiv Sena-BJP opposition in Maharashtra.
“This is all mindless that you are asking…. this is a political game… the thing is that we will go as per the existing understanding between Congress and NCP,” Pawar told reporters in Delhi.
The NCP chief was replying to queries on his party leader Ajit Pawar’s reported remarks that he was offered the chief minister’s post by Sena-BJP leaders if he broke away from NCP. Ajit, who is the NCP chief’s nephew, was earlier sidelined for the post of deputy chief minister in the Congress-NCP government.
Feigning ignorance about any such offer to his kin,Sharad Pawar said,” somebody might have made an offer. I do not know. But who will give importance to it. This is not of any significance.”
Meanwhile, the BJP in Maharashtra today denied having made any such offer.
“There is no (such) offer from our side,” state BJP chief Nitin Gadkari told reporters in Mumbai when asked to comment on the reports.
Sena leader Sanjay Raut had met Sharad Pawar in Delhi yesterday and there were also reports that Ajit met some BJP and Sena leaders today but there was no confirmation from either side.
