Officials must implement govt schemes: Mayawati

UP CM Mayawati said that the officials will be accountable if their subordinates fail to execute responsibilities.

Instructing all the departments to ensure proper implementation of government schemes in the state,Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati said on Saturday that the officials will be accountable if their subordinates fail to execute responsibilities.

“If district level officials are failing to execute their responsibilities with honesty and dedication,accountability of principal secretary or secretary of the department concerned will be fixed and action will be taken against him,” Mayawati said during a high-level review meeting on Friday.

She asked the government officials to “improve their work culture as per the expectations and need of the people and ensure that people get benefit of various welfare schemes”. Mayawati said that a report submitted by the chief secretary had indicated that working of some department was not satisfactory.

From September,review meetings of principal secretaries will be held by the cabinet secretary,chief secretary and additional cabinet secretary on 15th and 16th day of every month.

She also asked all the ministers to hold monthly review meeting with principal secretaries and divisional officers. The Chief Minister asked all the department heads to conduct surprise inspections at least twice a month.

“Officers of my office will also conduct surprise inspection and if required I can also visit any district without prior notice,” she said.
