  • China has repeatedly raised the issue of security of Olympic torch during the New Delhi leg of the relay and the Chinese ambassador in India had met Home Minister Shivraj Patil in this regard.

Following such pressure, the Centre has entrusted the job to none other than National Security Advisor M K Narayanan, who has been personally overseeing the arrangements.

To keep the Chinese satisfied, the Government is also said to have decided that the Olympic torch relay would just be a three-km affair unlike the 32-km that it had travelled during the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
