Omar for completion of judicial process in Afzal case

"Let the process be completed in the case of Afzal Guru," Omar said.

On the ninth anniversary of Parliament attack,Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the judicial process in Afzal Guru case should be completed irrespective of its implications in the country and the state.

“We have a system in the country where processes have to be completed. Let the process be completed in the case of Guru,” Omar said,when asked by reporters on the sidelines of a function at Zorawar Singh Auditorium here.

To a question about the implications if the Parliament attack convict’s hanging is confirmed,Omar said,”After the judicial process is completed,we will sit and see what can be its implication in the country and in Jammu and Kashmir.”

On holding of Panchayat elections in the state,Omar said the exercise is carried out in the state on a non-party basis so that more people can be involved.

“These elections would help in devolution of power to the grassroots democratic institutions – known as Panchayats,” he said.

About the physical assault by alleged stone pelters on youth going for police recruitment in Kashmir recently,Omar said he would find out the details of the incident.
