Omar objects,Army removes slogan from Srinagar mountain face

The Army has removed the slogan which they had painted on the face of a mountain.

The Army has removed the slogan which they had painted on the face of a mountain here after J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah raised the issue in the recently held meeting of the unified headquarters.

The slogan Ajeet Hain,Abheet Hain was painted in white bold letters on the mountain of the Zabrawan range close to the Dachigam National Park overlooking the 15 corps headquarters of the Army.

It was visible from anywhere in the Srinagar. Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Shailendra Kumar had issued notice to the Army for defacing the ecologically-sensitive mountain. He had directed the Army to remove it.

In fact the slogan has recently come up at most of the Army camps across Kashmir. Fearing public ire,Omar took the issue with the Army and termed it as “disgusting”.The Army has also raised illegal structures on the mountain in last two decades.
