  • Karun Chandok bettered his Formula One test performance with Red Bull Racing at the Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona today, improving on his 18th place finish of yesterday to land 11th.

It was a great experience for the Indian racer. He had termed his finish yesterday as “unbelievable”, saying that “the braking of the car from 300 plus kmph to zero is simply out of the mind... the rush of power... simply made my eyeballs pop.”

And today’s was better. He did 57 laps today with a best lap time of 1:23.255.

Twenty-one drivers tested today, and Karun finished seven-tenth of a second behind his teammate David Coulthard. The veteran Brit was seventh (1:22.555) after doing 74 laps.

Notable was the fact that Karun in his first ever F1 test managed to finish ahead of seasoned drivers in Jenson Button, Jarno Trulli, Robert Kubica, Anthony Davidson.

Topping the second day of testing for the second day in succession was Michael Schumacher, who after 90 laps did a best of 1:21.489, which was 1.766 seconds faster than Karun.

Karun’s test thus helped Red Bull gather valuable data ahead of their 2008 preparation.
