  • While Congress leaders had passed down instructions to party workers not to disturb Sonia Gandhi as she lay recuperating from a respiratory infection in Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, there’s no stopping a Congressman in the grip of sycophancy. Three Mahila Congress members made their way to the hospital carrying a placard declaring “Get well soon”. They stood in front of the hospital gate just long enough to draw the attention of TV cameras. Another party worker did one better, getting a pandit to perform havan in front of the gate. On the other hand, senior leaders who went to the hospital to meet the Congress president returned disappointed.
