If you spot anyone wearing a T-shirt with verses by Senapati Bapat or by poet Suresh Bhat in Marathi be assured to see a surge in the popularity of these T-shirts in days to come. The Bharatiya Vastra Shilp,a garment manufacturing company,has launched a line of T-shirts with patriotic messages in Marathi to pay homage to the great Marathi freedom fighters from the state.

Unmesh Joshi,director of Bharatiya Vastra Shilp says,“On the occasion of the golden jubilee year of Maharashtra we thought of introducing these T-shirts with words that were penned by great visionaries from the state.” He also says that the main motive behind the idea was to inculcate a sense of curiosity amongst the youngsters about their mother tongue in an innovative manner.

Available in differed sizes and colours,they adorn messages like Garja Maharashtra Maajha and Vyartha Na hovo balidan. Calligraphy artiste Achyut Pavlav,who is the creative head behind theses T-shirts says,“The relevance of our freedom struggle needs to be made known to everyone. A lot of youngsters prefer to wear T-shirts on a regular basis,thus this was the most efficient medium to bring out the importance of the Marathi culture to them.” These T-shirts will be available in 15 different districts like Aurangabad,Jalgaon,Mumbai,Pune,Satara and Thane across the state. They however soon intend to make them available on the website http://www.Marathimanoranjan.com for people to buy them online.

Kaushan Inamdar,music composer adds,“These Marathi T-shirts are like a walking and talking medium of publicity for our culture that is so rich and varied. They are as good as the international brands available in the market in terms of quality of the print and material.” Bharatiya Vastra Shilp also plans to introduce T-shirts for kids with children’s poems printed on them. Along with that plans for introducing Kurtis for women in various fits are also in the pipeline.
