One held for ‘murder’ of autorickshaw driver in Ahmedabad

The Ahmedabad police on Thursday arrested one of the alleged accused in Tuesday’s murder of a city-based autorickshaw driver,Sadiq Chauhan.

The Ahmedabad police on Thursday arrested one of the alleged accused in Tuesday’s murder of a city-based autorickshaw driver,Sadiq Chauhan.

The Danilimda police arrested Abdul Kadar Qureshi from a place close to his residence in the Shah Alam area. Main accused Mushtaq Ahmed Sheikh alias Kaniyo and co-accused Mohammad Gulmohammad Shama,Asif Ali,and Irfan are still at large.

The police said they have received a complaint from the victim’s father,Sikandar Chauhan,against Baba Khan of the Nawab Builders Group in Ahmedabad in connection with the murder. DCP Zone VI,Sachin Badshah,said: “Sadiq’s father later filed a complaint against Baba Khan. We are finding out his role in the murder,but so far haven’t received any lead on his involvement.”

Badshah added: “The motive behind the murder is not clear; whether it was a contract killing or was because of some internal rivalry. We will get the details from the main accused once we catch him.”

According to a complaint filed by Sikander,who spoke to Sadiq in the hospital,Mushtaq had attacked the victim reportedly for taking a contract to kill him.

Mushtaq and his associates stabbed Sadiq outside the residence of Baba Khan in Nawab ni Chali in the Shah Alam area on May 9 and later abandoned him outside his own residence in Kapadvanj. Sadiq died of injuries in a city hospital on May 10.
