A 34-year-old man from Karjan town died of swine flu on Saturday evening taking the death toll to 17 in the state. Paresh Patel was admitted in the Sir Sayajirao General Hospital (SSGH) of Vadodara on September 9 with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS).
Patel was kept on ventilator since his admission in the isolation ward of the hospital.
Health officials said his condition had been critical throughout. Dr Atul Saxena,Superintendent,SSG Hospital,said,He was suffering from ARDS along with pneumonia and H1N1 virus. He was also diabetic.
The case was confirmed for swine flu on September 10,said hospital sources.
Patel who worked in Modern Petrofils is survived by his parents,his wife and a child. This is the fourth swine flu death in Vadodara since the first one was reported on August 11.
