Film-maker and writer Onir, best known for films like My Brother...Nikhil and I Am, is now working on a love story loosely based on William Shakespeare's play Hamlet.

Confirming the news, Onir said, "The film, called Veda, is loosely adapted from Hamlet. It is a love story, between a Hindu girl and a Muslim guy from Lucknow. But, religion does not play any role in the conflict that arises in the film." Stating that the film will be shot in London and Lucknow, he said, "It is set in the backdrop of the chikan industry in Lucknow."

The cast of the film has not been finalised as the script is not ready yet. "The final draft of the script will be ready by mid next month and we'll start the casting process after that," said the film-maker.
