From the structure of a shot breakdown to the intricacies of day and night lighting, the Internet has been a foremost source for Saya Date. Using it to extract information and socialising greatly through it little wonder then that for this sixteen year old the internet also formed the subject of her film On The Other Line that depicts the dangers of excessive internet chatting.

Directing a 50 minute film that is scheduled for a premiere this weekend for this eleventh standard student of Fergusson College, this is her second film. “I started with a camera at the age and nine and was later introduced to a few technicalities by my mom who has also made corporate films. I recently received a mail on a girl being stalked and the idea emerged from there. Internet is probably the best thing that has happened to our generation but it is very necessary to keep a watch on how much we reveal of ourselves publicly,” she adds.

Rashmi Dharia plays Trisha Roy while Yash Ranade, and Saksham Kulkarni who has also worked in Puk-Puk-Pukak play the main leads. Trisha, the protagonist has made a friend while chatting on the net. After troubles in school she begins to confide in her net buddy, only to find that this friend is not who she thought to be. Told with a blend of humor and suspense the English film also weaves in Marathi occasionally with a background score by Yash. Currently studying science at Fergusson College Saya says, “ We shot on a handy cam and borrowed a lot of stuff from friends. On day one we took five hours for a 30 second shot but after that all was pretty smooth and it has been a collective effort of all my friends.”
