Online sample papers a hit with students

Gone are the days when students would throng bookshops to lay hands on previous years’ question papers.

Gone are the days when students would throng bookshops to lay hands on previous years’ question papers. With education fast becoming technology driven, sample test papers for Classes X and XII are now easily available online. Several websites have been devoted for sample tests, also known as guess papers.

Moving a step ahead with times, the CBSE as well as the ICSE have uploaded the previous years’ question papers on their website. Students can find sample Board papers on http://www.cbse.guess.com and http://www.icseguess.com.

To make things easier for students, the websites also have links for specific subjects. Certain private players too have set up links to provide the guess papers, like http://www.indiastudychannel.com and http://www.edunewz.com.

Meanwhile, the trend of ‘blogging’ to discuss questions is also fast catching up with the youngsters. “With the examinations approaching,I am utilising my blog to seek answers to the difficult questions. The Internet is a storehouse of information and with question papers available online, studying has become an easy task,” says Arnav,a student of Class XII.

His friend Kunal adds: “The best part about online sample tests is that one can prepare for possibly all solutions. Also, there is no scope of printing errors in the online version.”

Teachers, too, are seeing this emerging trend in a positive light. “Students these days are Internet savvy. Online tests not only help them revise the syllabus but also give information like marking schemes and changed pattern of question papers,” says Amarjeet Singh,a government school teacher.
