Make sure civic officers attend meetings, chairperson Sulochana Tupe writes to municipal commissioner
After the first meeting of legal committee for the financial year on Thursday had to be adjourned as only one civic officer turned up,its newly-elected chairperson Sulochana Tupe wrote to the municipal commissioner condemning the absence of the officers. She also told him to ensure their presence in the next meeting.
We condemn the behaviour of the civic officers who failed to turn up for the first meeting after the committee was constituted, Tupe said.
The meeting was only attended by Deputy Municipal Commissioner K C Karkar while Legal Advisor Manjusha Idhate reported late.
In a hard-hitting letter to the municipal commissioner,Tupe directed that the civic officers should be present for all the meetings. The committee deals with framing legal policy for the Pune Municipal Corporation. Thus,it should be made it mandatory for the legal advisor to be present for the meeting from beginning, she said.
The state government had recently issued a directive making it mandatory for starting the meetings on time or call it off immediately and postpone it if the committee members didnt turn up on time,so that civic staff need not waste time.
Recently, the city improvement committee meeting was adjourned after the members of reachd late for the meeting.
