  • Three CRPF personnel, including an officer, were killed in a landmine blast triggered by Maoists in Orissa's southern district of Malkangiri on Friday. Seven others were also injured in the blast.

The blast took place in Maoist-dominated MV-66 area, about 40 km from here, when a van carrying the CRPF personnel was on its way from Kalimela to Gompagunda probably to pick up rations, Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Satyabrata Bhoi said.

The landmine was planted at a culvert and exploded when the van passed over it, he said.

CRPF deputy commandant Bhupinder Singh was among the three CRPF men killed.

The attack is believed to be part of the Maoist strategy to restrict movement of security forces ahead of their proposed offensive in the region.

Additional CRPF jawans and state police personnel have been rushed to the site, while steps taken for intensifying patrolling in the area, Bhoi said.

This was the third attack by Maoists in Malkangiri this month. A guest house of a private steel company in Chitrakonda area was torched and a bridge over a rivulet was blown up on the other two occasions.

CRPF suffers and MHA/central govt. continues to flip flopBy: Vinay Singh(Retd CRPF Comdt.) | 14-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Arun and binay are absolutely correct. even after 6 decades of independence our govt is failing to lead a life of true statesmen. till date they have neighter taken steps for strenghening CRPF in real sense nor anything concrete that suggest that they are in no mood to tolerate the violence of naxals. our home minister mr chidambaram just after taking over the charge of MHA made so many rhetorics about eradicating naxals, but now he is doing flip flops. some day he says that we will wipe out naxalism that is the greatest threat and the other day he says that we are ready for talks even if maoist didn't lay down arms. our politicians will only demoralize the forces engaged in anti naxal operations. today we need a home minister like SARDAR PATEL. only he can strenghen the CRPF as it was his creation and only people like him can understand the meaning of enemy. I SALUTE THE CRPF MARTYRS. CRPF HAS LOST MANY OF ITS PRODIGAL SON IN THE CALL OF DUTY AND IT WILL KEEP ON DOING. JAI HIND

Mamta Didi forgot to tel them .....By: arun kumar | 13-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward The Maoists who laid the land mine to join Trinamool Congress. Had they joined Trinamool Congress this incident would not happen? Shaban Aazmi, Mahesh Bhatt, Mamata Didi and Amar Singh all had doubts regarding Batala House incident in Delhi - look now - Mahesh Bhatt's son had links with the conspirator. In a way all Human right activists in India have linkage with terrorists or Anti Nationals. Very sad that media project them as saviors of Humanity, and those who support nationalist forces are called rightist and anti secular.
