The Organiser editorial hails the Orissa government’s “all out war against the marauding Maoists.” “The Indian state has for long been coy about fighting the Maoist menace. Their strength is hugely exaggerated by the media and complimented by sympathetic sections in the bureaucracy and civil society. There is no dearth of Maoist cohorts masquerading as civil rights activists and journalists. Their inhuman brutality and barbaric passion for loot have long been given the veil of political ideology. An economic reason was added to this weird definition blaming the authorities for exploitation of tribal areas and lack of development. But in all areas where the Maoists found a foothold, they stood in the way of development,” the editorial says, as it calls upon other Naxal-affected states to demonstrate the “same kind of determination to fight the Maoists as Orissa.”

The RSS mouthpiece reports a speech by RSS sarsanghchalak K.S. Sudarshan at the Baudh Mahasammelan in Sarnath, talking about a third world war. “Sudarshan said the world is today at the verge of a third world war and a serious conflict is going on between good and evil forces. He said the western countries are facing a split due to lack of spiritualism and only Indian spiritualism can save them from war. He said diversity has been created by God and its destruction would mean destruction of God. He said consumerism is one of the prominent reasons behind the failure of the families in the west. America is the best example of it and they are now taking lessons from the Indian family system,” reports the magazine.
