Ecstatic with the nomination of Harishchandrachi Factory as the official entry of India for Oscars, producers of the film are now planning to dub the film in Hindi and four regional languages. The film will be released across the nation by Diwali.
Harishchandrachi Factory was declared as an official entry of India for Oscars on Sunday. It is the second time in five years that a Marathi film got this honour. Shwas got this honour in 2004. However, in the last five years, marketing techniques have revolutionised and the producers of Harishchandrachi Factory are banking on these new techniques to push the film.
“We had released the film in December 2008 and got a good response. However, after getting recognition at various levels, we are now planning a “big release” by Diwali,” said executive producer of the film Shrirang Godbole. “We are going to dub the film in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.,” he said.
The film has already got various awards at the state level, besides getting recognition at festivals in Kerala and Chennai. “Seeing the audience response, we decided to dub it in few regional languages. Moreover, the film is about Dadasaheb Phalke, the pioneer of Indian cinema, so we want it to reach every Indian film lover,” he said.
Godbole said he was also talking to distributors in Bollywood to release the film on a larger scale. “It will be improper to disclose the names at this juncture, but the film will definitely have a grand release by Diwali,” he said.
