Out of top 10, but not big picture

  • It was a day when things just went wrong for me. And small mistakes added up to a big score of 74. That means I am out of the top-10 but not completely out of the picture at the end of the third day of the Hero Honda Indian Open at the Delhi Golf Club.

I know I need to keep my chin up and play with a fresh mind on Sunday. I am tied 12th in a big bunch that includes a lot of Indians like Uttam Singh Mundy, who had a splendid albatross, Ashok Kumar, Shamim Khan, Vijay Kumar and Arjun Singh.

I hit the ball well off the tee, but the problem was with my iron play. I went somewhat awry and found myself missing the greens. Then again, I missed putts. I failed to concentrate and even made two doubles on 10th and 12th.

The birdie on the 18th was a bit of consolation and it reduced the disappointment slightly. If I play the first nine well on Sunday, I hope I can still have a chance to make amends and a good finish.

Sure my game was off-colour today, it was still great to see Jyoti Randhawa right on top at 10-under and he is in joint lead with Chapchai Nirat. Gaurav Ghei mentioned he had a patchy day, but he hung in for a 70 and that keeps him three behind the leaders. SSP Chowrasia also played a brave round despite being off-colour and he is still tied 10th and there are six Indians in the 11-player group.

    ... contd.
