The civic health body has recorded more than 200 cases of malaria every week since June. In September,437 cases have been registered till date. While July recorded 1,076 cases of malaria,1,302 cases were reported in August. BMCs deputy chief executive health officer,Dr Mangala Gomare said a steady decline has been seen in malaria cases since 2010. So far more than 7,000 cases have been recorded this year,as against 76,000 in 2010. BMC aims to bring down cases of malaria below 10,000 this monsoon. On June 1,BMC began its five-fold vector control programme. Gomare said the current cause of worry is the rise in dengue cases. The figure has risen from around 10 cases per week in July to more than 30 cases per week this month.
