Over sixty of the total 151 candidates in fray for the assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh are crorepatis,according to a report.
Takam Tagar,who is contesting from Palin constituency on a Peoples Party of Arunachal (PPA) ticket,is the richest of them,with assets worth over Rs 229 crore,a report by National Election Watch,an umbrella group of 1,200 NGOs working for electoral reforms,said.
Congress candidates Nabam Rebia — who is contesting from Doimukh in Papum Pare district — and Dorjoo Khandu — in fray from Mukto constituency in Tawang district — have declared assets worth over Rs 24 and Rs 22 crore respectively,said the report prepared after analysing affidavits of the candidates.
Among others,BJPs Lichi Legi — contesting from Itanagar constituency — has declared movable and immovable properties worth over Rs 22 crore.
The highest 37 crorepatis are from Congress,followed by eight from National Communist Party,seven from All India Trinamool Congress,six from BJP,four from PPA and an independent candidate who has also declared his assets in crores,the report said.
Interestingly,130 contestants,including 49 crorepatis,have not declared their PAN card details.
PPAs Takam Tagar and Congress candidates Dorjee Khandu,Gojen Gadi,Chowna Mein and Kameng Dolo are among those who have not furnished their PAN card details,the report said.
