Three unidentified youths snatched Rs 1.85 lakh from a gas agency owner at gunpoint in East Delhi on Thursday.
According to the police, it seems the accused had been following the victim’s movements and snatched a bag containing the money when he was going to deposit it in the bank. The incident occurred around 12 noon near the main gate of Nirman Vihar Colony in Preet Vihar.
Satpal Singh (50), a resident of Adarsh Nagar who owns a HP gas agency in Nirman Vihar, was walking towards Syndicate Bank on Vikas Marg with his employee Titu to deposit daily earnings.
At the Nirman Vihar gate, two youths snatched the bag from him and when he resisted, one of them took out a country-made pistol and threatened him. Another youth was waiting for them on a Pulsar nearby and they fled the spot on the motorcycle.
“Since Singh’s visit to the bank is a routine affair, somebody must have been following his movements. We are questioning his employees as well,” a senior police officer said.
