Oz party website brands Gillard ‘Madam Hitler’

Liberal Party's official website also called for the Australian PM to be shot.

A senior Australian Liberal party senator has called the comments appearing on his party’s website comparing Prime Minister Julia Gillard to Adolf Hitler and calling for her to be shot,as ‘unfortunate’.

The Liberal Party’s official website today ran comments calling Gillard “Madam Hitler” and calling on readers to “shoot the f****** bitch”.

The comments remained on the website for at least half an hour before Liberal Senate leader Eric Abetz arranged for them to be removed after being alerted by Australian Greens leader Bob Brown,News.com.au reports.

“I don’t defend the comment As soon as it was brought to my attention I sought to have it withdrawn,” Abetz said.

Senator Abetz said that with interactive technology sometimes things appeared that were not liked.

“We all have those unfortunate experiences where opportunists or indeed saboteurs – I don”t know what it is – use modern media to put things like that,” Abetz said.
