What's up with the Padma Shri's ~~~By: Karthikayan. A | 27-Dec-2009 Reply | Forward What a farce by the selection team is selecting the set of people for the top Indian awards. PADMA SHRI to people who do not deserve it at all, awards should be a bench mark and should be an aspiration for achievement, the panel did not even consider a doctor who have performed eye operations in the backward area of UP and have given site to them! I am sure we are not running short of talents, It's a shame that Dr Kamla Singh completed more than 150,000 eye operations is not even considered for such awards when there contribution to the society is by far more than people referred to. With due respect to this award lets start giving it to deserving candidate and let this awards not loose its credibility and respect.
awardsBy: vivek | 01-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward I am apalled at the Padmashri receipients. Is the selection process fair? How come they have ignored Dharmendra.Has he contributed less to Indian cinema than Akshay,Aishwarya.I have lived abroad since last 20 years,to this date everybody recognises Dharmendra not Aky or Aish. But who can say anything about the unfairness of the Indian awards, because the jury itself is filled with undeserving persons.
Padmashri Shame By: Uday Bhan | 27-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward It's a shame that People like dr. Kamla Singh who have conducted more that 1 lac 50 thousand free eye operations in and around Varansi and Mughalsarai even fails to get his achievement's recognized. Aishwarya Rai Bachan gets Padma Shri for no contribution for the wlefare of society and Arts
Padmashri By: Uday Bhan | 27-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward PADMA SHRI to Aishwarya Rai bachan! For What? Has she contributed to anything....it seems India has fallen short of Talent! It's a shame that people like Dr.Kamla Singh are not even considered for such awards. Dr.Singh's contribution to the society is far far more than atleast Film Stars. He has camped and completed more than 150,000 eye oprations in and around Mughalsarai free of cost and this guys even struggles to find place for nomination, just because he is not rich, he does not have political connection etc etc....Shame on the board members who select candidates for awards...Such awards are loosing credibility .
No Indian award have any merit By: Jay | 26-Jan-2009 Reply | Forward Does anyone care about these awards? NONE of the Indian awards (including the film and science/research awards) are based on merit, but on lobbying and whom the political establishment wants to appease (under personal gratification and political completion).
