Pak appreciates Khamenei’s support for ‘Kashmir cause’

Pakistan "deeply values" the support expressed by the Iranian supreme leader,he said.

Pakistan on Monday expressed appreciation for Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei’s support for the “just cause of the Kashmiri people”.

“We deeply value the solidarity and support expressed by the Iranian nation and the leadership,” Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said in a statement.

Responding to a query about Khamenei’s “clear and categorical support” for the cause of the Kashmiri people,Basit said,”the valiant people of Jammu and Kashmir are engaged in a just struggle for the restoration of their inalienable rights”.

Pakistan “deeply values” the support expressed by the Iranian supreme leader,he said.

Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei while addressing Hajj pilgrims in Tehran last month had said that the major duties today of “the elite of the Islamic Ummah is to provide help to the Palestinian nation and the besieged people of Gaza,to sympathise and provide assistance to the nations of Afghanistan,Pakistan,Iraq and Kashmir…”.

Following the remarks,India had summoned Iran’s envoy in New Delhi,telling him that such remarks impinged on the country’s territorial integrity.
