  • Pakistan raised the Kashmir issue at a meeting of the UN panel on humanitarian issues, prompting a strong response from the Indian side which said Islamabad has no right to raise the issue as Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India.

Pakistan's acting permanent representative to the UN Amjad Hussain claimed the people of Jammu and Kashmir had been denied the "right to exercise and the right of self-determination."

Speaking at a special session of the UN panel on Humanitarian issues, he said Pakistan remains committed to the Composite Dialogue process with India, and that a peaceful resolution of that dispute was imperative for durable peace, stability and progress in South Asia.

Congress MP B K Hariprasad expressed disapproval over the reference to Kashmir in the debate on self-determination.

"We regret the unacceptable reference made by the delegation of Pakistan to the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir," he said.

PakistanBy: R Varadarajan | 03-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Having illlegally occupied POK, where there is no freedom to talk with place running wholesale terrorist training chambers, Pakistan has no right to point fingures at Kahsmir/ India. First set your house in order. Just because you failed to control the demon you had created and nurtured for decades and everything has gone out of your hands you are looking for lame excuses which no sensible person would even think about - let alone agreeing. Instead of your Kahmir obsession, had you joined hands with India you would have also developed for ahead, instead going around with begging bowls. Even now it is not too late Think sensisbly and co operate with India in every aspect for your own development
