Kayani is expected to make it clear to the US that the ISI is a national security agency working to protect Pak’s national interests.

Following the intense heat that the Pakistan’s investigative agency, Inter State Services (ISI) has come under from the US as well as Britain for its alleged links with banned terror outfits, Pak Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani is expected to make it clear to the United States that the ISI is a national security agency working to protect country’s national interests when a high-level US delegation arrives here to discuss the revamped US policy for Afghanistan-Pakistan next week.

The Chairman US Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen and US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke are scheduled to arrive here on April six to discuss the intricacies of the new US policy with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, and Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.

Washington, in recent times, has expressed concern over the reprehensible link between the Inter State Services (ISI) and the outlawed terror organizations such as Al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and the Taliban.

It has also charged the ISI of providing logistical support to these terror groups.

It is also learnt that Pakistan is expected to raise the issue of India’s increasing influence in Afghanistan and its continuous efforts to destabilize the country during the meeting.

According to sources, General Kayani is expected to clarify Pakistan’s stance on US’s demand for more deployment of troops along the western border with Afghanistan.

Kayani is likely to make it clear to the US that Pakistan could not withdraw its security forces from the eastern border and deploy them on western border with Afghanistan, The Nation reported.

PROBE ROLE OF I.S.IBy: KUMAR | 03-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward Chief Of Pakistan Army Mr Kayani, I.S.I, Al-Queda, Taliban and to a certain extent the civilian Government in Pakistan are all involved in the terror strikes. The role of I.S.I should be throughly probed as they are the number one culprits.
Reap as you sowBy: Anoop | 01-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward Be it USA or Pak, they are reaping the fruits of their deeds or rather misdeeds. US first encouraged these jihadis against Russia and now it is finding them dangerous to itself. Pak by clinging to the Tail of US for getting favours in the form of unaccounted money and arms did all dirty jobs for US. Now if Pak is to survive only a true and sensible person from their own country can do it. They have to first leave the greed of all things free. US is at present in a very dangerous state. Any muslim fanatic can cause a incidence of terror in their country untill they themselves take a very stern action against the taliban
NexusBy: Ramakrishnan | 01-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward There appear to be a close nexus among the civilian government, army,ISI, taliban and other jihadi aoutfits in Pakistan. While civilian government provides a fig leaf of legitimacy , the army is the defacto government. The ISI is an arm of the army which has created all the jihadi organisations, provides them logistical support, is involved in their planning etc. The army and ISI also provides safe haven in Pakistan for all sorts of criminals including Dawood, Osama, Mulla Omar etc. In fact organisations like LET, Jaish etc. appear to be only agencies executing the plans of ISI. The duplicity of Pakistan is too glaring for any body to miss. While religious obscurantis appears to be like drug money, commissions through arms dealings also appear to be evident. This is a hopeless situation which where international community appear to be groping in the dark.
ISi By: J.M.Manchanda | 01-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward Pakistan is a double-dealing, double-speaking, double crossing nation, which is exploiting US involvement in Afghanistan to the hilt. One wonders whether we are witnessing the consequential damage of US's obsession with communism. Kabul seemed to be under control under Najibullah but American obsession to throw out Russians have got them into this soup. It may be sensible to let nations decide their own fates and for US to give up its global policing role. That will also leave India free to deal with Pakistan as it deems fit.
USA and aid to PaklistanBy: K B Kale | 01-Apr-2009 Reply | Forward US should stop giving money as a donation to Pakistan. It can give them loans for civilian projects and pay against actual money spent on the civilian projects, be they infra projects or irrigation projects or the like. But they must repay the loans. Also there should be restrictions on not using these loans for arms and ammunition.
