A Pakistani woman, who is the wife of a Pakistan Army havildar and has reportedly received a fortnight-long militant training in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir, was arrested by BSF personnel in Sunderbani area of Rajouri district on Thursday night as she was surveying Indian troop deployment along the Line of Control. The woman has reportedly revealed that more than 100 Pakistani girls were being trained at terror camps in PoK.
Sources said 20-year-old Asiya Begum claimed she crossed into Indian territory to collect information on deployment of troops to facilitate an infiltration of terrorists ahead of the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. She is the wife of Sajid Ahmed, a resident of Patnitop village under Barnala police station in Bhimber district of PoK and Havildar in the Pakistan Army. He is posted in Mithyal area of PoK.
The sources said the BSF men observed suspicious movement along the LoC at Dadal in Sunderbani on Thursday night. A subsequent search found a woman moving around the area. Though she was arrested, nothing incriminating was found on her.
Initially, the woman claimed she had crossed into India after a fight with her husband, said the sources. However, she spilled the beans on further questioning. The woman said she knew about half-a-dozen terror camps in Barnala, Bhimber, Kotli and Saina areas being run jointly by the Pakistani Army and ISI, they added. She claimed more than 100 girls were being trained in these camps, where she was also trained for a fortnight.
“The woman has been handed over to the Sunderbani police and would be brought to Jammu, where she will be further interrogated by women officials,” said BSF DIG (Jammu) J B Sangwan.
