Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday said Pakistan did not share any information with India on the Lashkar-e-Toiba terror plot involving David Coleman Headley before it was made public. The US national has been accused of planning an attack on the National Defence College in New Delhi, along with Tahawwur Hussain Rana,a Pakistan-born Canadian citizen and a resident of Chicago.
Asked about the plot,Home Minister P Chidambaram said in Hyderabad: There is an obvious Pakistan link. Headley visited Pakistan a number of times and I think on the advice of the FBI,two or perhaps more people have been arrested in Pakistan. On whether the Indian government was informed about the LeT plan,Chidambaram replied in the affirmative. If you are asking whether I was informed about it,the answer is yes. If the question is whether you will be informed about it,the answer is no, he quipped.
Speaking to reporters at the joint press conference after the 10th India-EU summit here, the PM said: What happens in Afghanistan and Pakistan affects us more intimately than many other countries of the world. We have a vital stake in peace and stability not only in Afghanistan, but also in Pakistan.
