Pakistan engaged in ‘existential struggle’: US

US extended condolences to families of the victims of the suicide attack in Pakistan's restive tribal belt.

The United States on Saturday extended condolences to families of the victims of the suicide attack in Pakistan’s restive tribal belt and said the Asian nation is engaged in its “existential struggle” against forces of terror.

“Pakistan is engaged in an existential struggle,like the United States,against forces of terror. And we support them in their efforts,” State Department spokesman Mark Toner told reporters at a news briefing.

Responding to a question on Friday’s terrorist attack that killed more than 6O people in Pakistan,Toner said “It is a terrible tragedy. We extend our condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.”

“I think the US support for Pakistan has been absolute and will continue to be,” the spokesman said while reiterating America’s support to Islamabad.
