  • Pakistani Taliban on Wednesday claimed responsibility for the attack on Premier Yousuf Raza Gilani’s car which was fired at near the garrison city of Rawalpindi and threatened to carry out more strikes against the government leaders.

Muslim Khan, the spokesman of the umbrella militant organisation which was banned by the Pakistani government last week, said the Pakistani Taliban had carried out the attack on Gilani’s car.

More such attacks would be carried out on government leaders in the future, he said.

Gilani’s car was fired at by unknown assailants near Rawalpindi but contradictory statements were made by officials later about his presence in the vehicle.
