Panchkula gangrape: victim demands CBI probe

    The 17-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped and tortured by five persons on September 17, lodged a complaint with the Police Headquarters, Sector 6, on Monday alleging police inaction and demanded a CBI inquiry into the case.

    The victim could not meet the Haryana Deputy General of Police, Ranjiv Dalal, as he was away to Bhiwani in the wake of an alleged fake encounter by the police there.

    The Panchkula police are yet to arrest two of the main accused in the case, Jatin and Chhavi.

    One of the arrested youth, Aman Ahuja, was released on bail on Saturday while the bail application of Jitesh, arrested on September 26, will come up for hearing in the district court on Tuesday.

    Superintendent of Police Sandeep Khirwar has gone on leave for 15 days, further delaying our case,” said the rape victim.

    But the police claims to be on the trail of the accused. A police officer, on condition of anonymity, said: “We are trying to trace a girl named Tanu, who was involved in the making of a pornographic CD of the victim about a year ago. She may shed light on the whereabouts of Jatin and Chhavi.”
