Documents pertaining to some important cases have gone missing from Naini Central Jail.

The stolen documents include the records of the murder of woman inmate Baby Mishra inside the jail a few years ago, said officials in the jail.

Among the missing documents is also paper pertaining to a woman Inspector, Vijay Laxmi — who is currently in Naini jail in connection with a custody death — the gate record book and other papers.

Jail superintendent Kedar Nath has begun an inquiry into the matter and a complaint has been lodged with the Naini police station.

The matter came to light during the search of a file over the weekend.

Consequently, all officials were questioned and issued a warning.

Admitting that some documents are indeed missing, Nath, however, refused to provide details.

In his letter to the police, the superintendent expressed his apprehensions regarding the involvement of some jail officials, said one of the jail officials.
