As pressure mounted on Islamabad to move against the Haqqani network,accused by US of carrying out a spate of attacks in Kabul,ISI chief Lt Gen Ahmed Shuja Pasha rushed here to hold a quite meeting with the new CIA head Gen David Petraeus. There was an unpublicised private meeting between the two here Tuesday,The Washington Post reported. Pakistani daily The Express Tribune reported that Pasha had met with Petraeus and CIA officials at the CIA headquarters and separately with senior White House officials at Pakistani Ambassador to the US Husain Haqqanis residence in Washington before leaving for Islamabad. Meanwhile,FBI Director Robert Mueller visted Pakistan Wednesday. A Pakistani government statement said that Mueller met with Interior Minister Rehman Malik in Islamabad for talks on how to bolster counterterrorism cooperation. US officials declined to discuss the visit,which comes one day after both countries agreed to limit the number of American troops in Pakistan. Earlier Wednesday,suspected militants opened fire on an army helicopter flying in northwest Pakistan,wounding a regional commander inside the aircraft. The chopper was flying over the Dir region when it was attacked. Maj Gen Javed Iqbal was shot in the leg during the incident. Iqbal is the commanding officer in northern Swat Valley.
