India discard scores 48-ball 81 to help Reliance record a four-wicket win.
Yusuf Pathan did what he does the best, slamming a rapid 81 from 48 balls to secure a four-wicket win for Reliance One over ONGC. Reliance's 100 per cent win record in Group C has ensured them a place in the knockout stage of the 9th DY Patil T20 Cup at the DY Patil Stadium on Wednesday.
Electing to field first, Reliance bundled out ONGC for 149. Mayank Tehlan was the mainstay with the bat for ONGC, scoring 79 runs in 46 deliveries. For Reliance, Rishi Dhawan took 3 for 20, including the wicket of Tehlan, while Baltej Singh took 2 for 27.
In reply, Relaince were in trouble early on, losing openers Shikhar Dhawan (1) and Virender Sehwag (9) cheaply to medium pacer Sumit Narwal. It was a brilliant piece of fielding in the gully region by Taruveer Kohli and a great airborne catch by Druv Singh which saw the backs of Dhawan (1) and Sehwag (9). Parthiv Patel (13) too edged one to WK Salim Ansari in the same over from Narwal.
The wickets continued to tumble and the scoreboard read 6 for 62, before Pathan began his blitzkrieg with Pawan Negi (27) keeping him company. Pathan smashed six huge sixes and four boundaries in his match winning knock.
