• The left handed batsman and left-arm medium pacer had found place in the Test team after 12 matches. He had scored 19 runs and claimed 2/93 in his last Test against West Indies at Gros Islet in 2006

• Pathan’s previous highest Test score of 93 came as an opening batsman against Zimbabwe in New Delhi in 2005-06, while his previous best against Pakistan was 90 in Faisalabad in 2005-06
