Patiala boy rescued from Lucknow,kidnappers escape

The Patiala police today recovered an 18-month-old boy,who was kidnapped from Patiala on Saturday,from Lucknow in a joint operation with the Special Task Force of the UP police. The two kidnappers,Raju and Yasin Khan,however,managed to flee.

SSP R S Khatra confirmed that the boy had been recovered from the kidnappers after a 48-hour operation. “Our team recovered the boy from the forest of Balaganj in Lucknow. The boy will be in Patiala by Tuesday morning,” he said.

Khatra said that immediately after the incident,the Patiala police constituted two teams and despatched them to Delhi and UP. “Alam,one of the accomplices of the main accused Raju was present in New Delhi from where he was in constant touch with the victim’s family. After Alam was caught we got many clues about the accused ,” he added.

The team led by Patiala DSP (D) Ashish Kapoor first went to Delhi and then to UP. “The leads were all courtesy of the kidnappers who were constantly in touch with the family over phone and were demanding a ransom of over Rs 3 lakh,” said a police officer.

The police said the two accused were known to the family of the boy,Yuvraj. “The kidnapper Raju used to work with Yuvraj’s father Kaushal Yadav,who is a tailor in Phulkian Enclave,” the police said.

Talking to The Indian Express,DSP Ashish Kapoor said the two accused escaped in the nearby forest,but a team is already on their prowl.
