One of the persons arrested for the Patna serial blasts,Mohammed Imtiaz from Ranchi,is said to have links with Indian Mujahideen operative Tahseen Akhtar alias Monu. Sources said Akhtar,who belongs to Samastipur in Bihar,has motivated and set up several modules in Bihar. He is also suspected to have supplied explosives with the help of IM commander Riyaz Bhatkal. By late Sunday evening,the Bihar Police claimed to have identified the group behind the explosions targeting BJP prime ministerial candidateNarendra Modi's rally. Police said a module of eight had been tasked to carry out the explosions,and that the low-intensity IEDs were assembled in a toilet of the Patna Railway Station by two persons. While the bomb went off injuring one of them critically,Imtiaz was arrested while allegedly trying to flee the spot. Jharkhand Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) S N Pradhan told PTI in Ranchi that many of the accused involved in the Patna attack are from Jharkhand. Raids were carried out in Dhurwa police station limits,Ranchi,late Sunday evening. No arrests had been made till night though police claimed to have seized powder weighing 225 grams,and are testing whether it is an explosive. Black powder has been recovered, Senior Superintendent of Police Saket Kumar Singh said. Patna SSP Manu Maharaj claimed that the people they had detained were singing like a canary. They have confessed everything. We will be able to reveal the names of the group involved tomorrow. Their motive was to create panic near the rally, said Maharaj. There were two persons who were assembling the IEDs in a toilet of the railway station. They were setting the time on the IEDs when these exploded. There was another group of eight men who had been tasked to place the bombs, said Maharaj.
