Demanding the resignation of Osmanabad MP Padamsinh Patil who has been arrested by the CBI in connection with the murder of Congress leader Pawanraje Nimbalkar,Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray said,"He might be a 'respectful' leader for NCP,but Maharashtra does not need such 'respectful' leaders." He was speaking during the inauguration of the exhibition on forts at Yashwantrao Chavan auditorium in Kothrud. While giving Patil the ticket NCP chief Sharad Pawar should have thought twice. At least now Pawar should keep some self-respect and ask Patil to resign. Such tainted persons should not represent Maharashtra," Uddhav said, adding that Congress too cannot shirk its responsibility in the matter. Uddhav said NCP is a group of dissenters. "The NCP should relieve Patil of his MP's post to show that it has no link with the tainted man," he said. Uddhav also opposed the deletion of reference to Dadaji Konddev in history books in schools. "If the state government buckles under anybody's pressure, the Sena will not keep quite. The reference to Dadaji Konddev should remain," he said.
